Restorative Justice Program

The RJ program is a collaboration of Denver Public Schools (DPS) and SCO.  The goal of the Restorative Justice Model is to reduce the number of in-school (ISS) and out- of-school (OSS) suspensions by 20%, police intervention by 40% and truancy.  The program provides services to middle and high school students who have been referred to either the ISS and/or OSS programs 1-5 days for infractions of the Student Code of Conduct and are subject to further disciplinary actions by the school or SCO.  The program will act as a positive solution to preventing students from entering the pool of students at risk of expulsion by providing restorative interventions that will provide alternatives to expulsions, suspensions, and police citations.  In addition, the program will filter out students who do not need the more intensive, “individual focused” in-depth evidence-based support services.
