WHAT WE DOSee also
New Recordings and
Office Location, Hours.
Clerk and Recorder is the repository of all documents received over-the-counter and by mail for permanent county recording. These include deeds, liens, releases, marriage certificates, judgments, court orders, assignments, UCC filings, military discharges, and others. Our responsibility is the archival and on-demand retrieval of these records. We can conduct searches of all Denver County-recorded documents, excluding real estate records (see
Deeds, below). Copies are available upon request and at nominal
fees.
Note: Our records do
not include County Court or other court records, only such documents as have been submitted to us for recording as the county recorder. These relate principally to real estate transactions.
For those customers wishing to conduct searches independently, our staff also provides instructional assistance with —
- location of records
- marriage searches for purposes of immigration, adoption, etc.
- use of computers and microfilm/microfiche readers, viewers, and printers
DeedsTo obtain copies of deeds the following information must be supplied:
- Grantor or grantee name
- Date of recording
- Reception number, if recorded on or after 10/1/1984
- Book and page number, if recorded on or before 9/30/1984
Our office does not index deed records by property address or parcel number and thus cannot retrieve records in this manner. However, this service is available through both the
Real Property Records Search and an
automated phone system, 720‑913‑4162, maintained by the
Assessor’s Office.
We are prohibited by law from researching any real estate records, including liens.Marriage RecordsMarriage records can be researched and obtained in our office, as generally described
above, and by mail, as described in the
Mail Requests section, below.
Additionally, the State of Colorado maintains a searchable online database of Colorado marriages, outside this Clerk and Recorder website. Please note that although the Denver County information available thereat is derived from among our records, it is unofficial and is presented here merely as a convenience.
Military Discharge RecordsMilitary discharges become restricted records not available for general public inspection.
Mail RequestsCopies of deeds, marriage applications and certificates, and other documents recorded in our office can be ordered by mail. For your convenience, you may download, print, and complete the following forms for submission of your requests:
