We provide services to adults who are 18 years old and above who are susceptible to mistreatment, abuse, neglect, exploitation, or self-neglect. We provide service to residents of the City and County of Denver regardless of income.
To make an adult protection referral, call 720-944-2994 with as much of the following information as possible: the individual’s name, address (or current location), phone number(s), date of birth, and current concerns about the person’s situation. An intake worker will follow up to assess the person’s safety, their willingness to accept services, and the need for further services.
Our Services include:
- In-home assessment for abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation
- Crisis intervention
- Monthly visits by a caseworker, if risk continues
- Assistance with housing and/or placement to alternative housing
- Assistance with obtaining benefits
- Money management
A competent adult has the right to refuse protective services. DHS does not take actions on an individual’s behalf without the person’s consent, unless the Probate Court has ordered it. If a court has ordered it, we provide guardianships and any other protective services ordered by a court.
