On September 24th, 2009, Councilwoman Jeanne Robb and Councilwoman Peggy Lehmann joined Better Denver Bond Implementation Manager Don Hunt, and Denver Parks and Recreation Manager Kevin Patterson for a special event recognizing the improvements made at many recreation centers across the city.

Over 33 recreation centers are benefiting bond-funded improvements. One new recreation center is being being planned and constructed in the Stapleton area, while land for another new Rec center in central Denver will be acquired, but construction will not occur until funding is identified.

City officials gathered for the event at the newly renovated Washington Park Rec Center to recognize the improvements made there, touring the inside and outside of the facility. Officials also recognized the improvements that will be underway in fall 2009 at the Eisenhower Rec Center. Representatives from the architectural and construction teams for Washington Park and Eisenhower were on hand, along with City staff and Rec Center Managers. Refreshments were provided by White Construction Group, the contractor completing the improvements at Washington Park Rec Center.
