Public Health Inspection

Child care facilities are inspected under contract with the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS), Division of Child Care and in accordance with Chapter 11 of the Denver Revised Municipal Code. Inspections are conducted in child care homes, centers, schools, and other facilities which are licensed to provide child care. Inspections are conducted from monthly to every three (3) years based upon compliance with the applicable regulations. Inspections include tracking required records including environmental safety assessments and other factors important for the safety, health, development, and well-being of the children in care.

 

A CDHS license to provide child care is required when children from more than one unrelated family are in care. In addition to the CDHS child care license, a child care provider must obtain a City and County of Denver Business and Professional License through Denver Department of Excise and Licenses.

 

Environmental Health and Safety inspections are conducted in child care centers. This inspection includes items that may adversely affect the health and safety of the children and caregivers.
