The Denver City Clerk, distinct from the Denver County Clerk and Recorder (county clerk: recording, records), is the official Custodian of Records of the City and County of Denver. The following are the major documents and bodies of data maintained among our records:
All of the above records are open to inspection by the general public at no charge. Copies are available for nominal fees.

Birth/Death Certificates – For Denver births and deaths from 1963 to present, contact the Denver Health and Hospital Authority, 303-436-7351. Birth/Death records from 1910/1900 to present are available from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Birth and Death Certificates, 303-692-2200.
Legal Questions – Our personnel are prohibited from answering legal questions, making interpretations of the law, and giving legal advice. Should you find yourself in need of legal assistance, you may find it beneficial to engage your own private attorney. One possible resource is the Metropolitan Lawyer Referral Service, 303-831-8000. Motor Vehicle Registrations – Denver County motor vehicle registrations are administered by Denver Motor Vehicle. Call 303-376-2200 for locations and information.
Notarial Acts – The City Clerk’s Office is not and does not employ a notary public.
