Block Beautification - Neighborhood blocks are determined by Housing &Neighborhood Development Services (H&NDS). Certain impact blocks are chosen and improvements include new sidewalks and flagstone walks; installation of new curb ramps where needed as well as damaged driveways; and replacement of cracked curb and gutter.
Pavement Reconstruction - Pavements that have progressed beyond their useful life are fully removed, the underlying soils are reconditioned and a new pavement section generally consisting of several layers of asphalt is placed. The new section will last more than 25 years with regularly scheduled interim treatments to the top surface.
Pavement Chipseal - Chipseal and the related Capeseal are minor surface treatments, relatively inexpensive, that seal and restore the surface of a pavement and adds 6-8 years of life to a pavement.
Pavement Hot In Place Recycle - Hot-In-Place-Recycle heats the top inch of existing asphalt pavement and mixes this with new asphalt. This process is less expensive and more environmental friendly than mill and overlay and provides a pavement that will last 8 to 10 years.
Pavement Rotomill and Overlay - Rotomill and Overlay is a major process where typically the top 2" of pavement is removed by grinding and replaced with new asphalt. This process adds approximately 12 years to the life of a pavement.
