Mayor Hancock’s Denver Days Kicks Off This Weekend

Citywide Celebration Enters its Second Year

DENVER – Starting Saturday, residents from across the city will come together for the Second Annual Denver Days. Mayor Michael B. Hancock’s signature outreach effort brings neighbors together to celebrate the Denver Spirit through social gatherings and community service projects. This year, Denver Days runs from Aug. 2-10 and will showcase the character and vibrancy of Denver’s 78 unique neighborhoods.

“Denver Days gives residents the opportunity to connect with each other to make our city a better place to work, live and play,” Mayor Hancock said. “There are more than 150 Denver Days events throughout the week, so I encourage everyone to go out, see what events are happening in their neighborhood and celebrate Denver.”

One of Mayor Hancock’s core values is community outreach, which is why he launched Denver Days as a way  to connect neighbors to neighborhoods and strengthen the city’s social fabric so that residents can work year-round to create vibrant, livable communities.

“Last year we decided to host a block party because of Denver Days,” said Erica Carlson, a resident of Denver’s Highland neighborhood.  “On that sunny August afternoon, our neighbors came together for a potluck, rented a bouncy castle for the kids and spent the day getting to know each other. Since then, we have spent more time getting together and are excited to be hosting our Second Annual Denver Days Perry Street Block Party this year.”

The planning for Denver Days was led by a committee of more than 40 community members along with staff from the Mayor’s Office and Human Rights and Community Partnerships.  Denver Days is also proudly sponsored by
CBS4, KBCO 97.3 FM, OutFront, Telemundo and Viva Colorado.
