Latino Summit - Welcome Message
Latino Summit
The Mayor’s Summit on Latino Academic Achievement held on October 20, 2004, was a great success, with a dynamic opening presentation by Kati Haycock, director of the Education Trust, about closing the achievement gap, and an inspiring closing presentation by Federico Peña, calling the business community to action. Approximately 300 business, civic, and educational leaders attended the summit. Conference proceedings and evaluation results are available.
On February 10, 2005, over 200 attendees met to continue the discussions started at the Latino Summit on how to increase the academic success of Latino students. Follow-up participants attended work sessions to respond to the recommendations/opportunities outlined in the Latino Summit Conference Proceedings.
