Our Programs
The Agency for Human Rights and Community Relations has six main divisions. Learn more about our divisions and directors below.
 
This office enforces the Denver ordinance prohibiting discrimination based on race, age, color, sexual orientation, gender variance, religion, marital status, national origin, military status, gender or physical or mental disability. DADO enforces the ordinance by investigating complaints of alleged discrimination in the areas of employment, housing, public accommodation, private educational institutions, private health and welfare services.
 
Darius Smith - Director
This office collaborates and coordinates with Denver's diverse community-based organizations on various projects which promote the objectives and values of the Agency and which envision a more connected, cohesive and positive city. 

Jamie Torres
- Director
This office addresses concerns of people with disabilities by seeking to eliminate architectural, program, communication and attitudinal barriers faced by people with disabilities. It ensures compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act by reviewing architectural plans and conducting site visits of buildings, parking facilties, polling places and providing sign language interpreting.

Office of Sign Language Services

This office works with Denver City/County agencies to make their programs, services, and public meetings accessible to people who are deaf or hard of hearing by providing:

•    Sign Language Interpreting
•    Computer Aided Real-Time Transcription (CART)
•    Assistive Listening Devices (ALD)
Lorrie Kosinski - Director
This commission promotes the social, economic, and political quality of life in Denver by assisting woman in the attainment of equality and full opportunity by:

•    advocating for women

•    empowering women through coalition building, disseminating information an sharing community resources

•    monitoring and recommending legislation and proposed policy changes affecting women.

  Chaer Robert - Director
Denver Office on Aging
This office serves the older adult population of Denver by:

•    advocating for the rights and concerns of older adults

•    developing strategies to increase community awareness of older adult issues and recruits volunteers

•    works closely with DRCO•G and other area agencies on aging

•    provides information, resources and referrals to Denver area seniors
