Career Service Authority (CSA) Workforce Management Division (WMD) is refining and developing many new and exciting testing initiatives. Three new initiatives we will be implementing soon, giving employees more opportunity and better information to assist them in advancing your careers at the City:
Developing a Test Resource and Information Guide
We have created a one-stop information manual that answers many of the questions candidates have around our testing processes, including:
- CSA tests and test types
- Helpful hints in preparing for a CSA test
- Resources and web sites that can assist you in preparing for a test
- Techniques for reducing test anxietyirection on how to obtain test accommodations
We’ve also included a list of frequently asked questions about our testing process, which is available at
here.
Eliminating Test Reviews from Recruiting
The Recruitment Division is tasked with developing and administering fair and objective tests. This makes us the referee, not the coach. Because of this charge, we have developed the Test Resource and Information Guide described above. We believe that City employees deserve an equal opportunity to prepare prior to an exam, and the Guide will do that. In the future, we intend to develop more detailed test preparation guides related to specific tests. When these are ready, we will post them on DOT. For coaching assistance and test reviews, and any Career Development questions, please contact Marion Lujan, Program Manager, at CSA at (720) 913-5622.
New Testing Initiatives for 2008 and Beyond
We’ve begun preliminary discussions and research on a new exam for first line supervisors to replace the current interim process. We will be developing new exams to measure customer service skills and basic skills, as well as validating all current CSA tests. We are also researching new technology that will allow us to better analyze test performance and potentially put our tests online in a proctored environment.
