For the 16th consecutive year, Denver Forestry is cooperating with local elementary schools participating in an Arbor Day Poster Contest. Denver entries have been entered in the statewide contest sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation and Toyota.
The Arbor Day National Poster Contest theme for 2010 is "Trees are Terrific...and Energy Wise!" Nearly 500 Denver fifth graders participated in this annual event by creating posters that reflect their understanding of how trees grow, function, and benefit society and the environment. Prizes will be awarded to individual school winners and a state winner will be chosen to represent Colorado in the national poster contest.
For the second year in a row, Denver's winning poster - submitted from Dora Moore School - has placed first in the statewide poster contest (out of about 1600 posters from 44 schools)!
