Employees are now eligible for a discount on their medical insurance in 2011 by completing two actions of the City’s DenverWellness – Premium Discount Program. Along with completion of an online health assessment, employees must complete one other wellness activity:
- Self-Paced Physical Activity Challenge
- DenverWellness approved program
- Online health program through their health care provider
To assist you as you complete the requirements; we would like to address some common questions that employees may have about the DenverWellness - Premium Discount Program.
1. Do I have to do another online health assessment if I did one last year? Yes. The Premium Discount Program requires employees complete the online health assessment again this year. The health assessments provide the City with important information about the overall health risks of our workforce and show how these health risks change over time. The online health assessment is one of the required actions of the Premium Discount Program and must be completed by August 31, 2010.
2. Is the information on my health assessment confidential? Yes. The HIPPA Privacy Rule mandates the protection and privacy of all “individually-identifiable” health information. In order to be compliant with HIPAA, the City assures your confidentiality. The information on your health assessment will not be viewed by City personnel and will only be shared with your health care provider if you choose to do so.
3. Do I have to have current health numbers to complete my health assessment? We recommend getting updated health numbers if it has been over one year since you received them. 4 key health numbers are blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol and body mass index (BMI).
4. What is the amount of discount I can earn on my medical insurance? While the maximum discount has not been determined at this time, it could be up to 10% of a single employee contribution on the medical insurance / month.
5. How do I know which activities are approved for the Premium Discount Program? Look for the green seal of approval on wellness flyers, bulletins, website information, etc., which states “Premium Discount Approved Program.”
