Disability
Standard Insurance is the City and County of Denvers short-term and long-term disability carrier. The following are summaries of each plan.
Short-term Disability
Short-term disability (STD) insurance is designed to pay a weekly benefit to city employees in the event they cannot work because of a covered illness or injury.
STD is a voluntary plan offered to all City employees. Employees may only elect STD during their new hire period or during open enrollment.
STD benefits may continue during a disability for up to 180 days.

Plan 1: Weekly benefit is 70% of insured predisability earnings reduced by deductible income.

Long-term Disability
Long-term disability (LTD) insurance is designed to pay a monthly benefit to city employees in the event they cannot work because of a covered illness or injury.
The City and County of Denver pays 100% of the cost of this coverage and all benefit eligible employees are enrolled.
LTD benefits become payable after employee has been continuously disability for 180 days.
The monthly LTD benefit is 60% of the first $10,000 of monthly earnings, called pre-disability earnings, reduced by deductible income.
