DENVER CRIME LAB AWARDED NATIONAL RESEARCH GRANT
New methods will reduce case processing times

A research grant could help the Denver Police Department process some cases in a matter of hours.  The National Institute of Justice is awarding the DPD Crime Lab $370,813 to develop advanced DNA processing methods for use in sexual assault cases

If researchers are successful, new processing methods will reduce sexual assault case processing times from months to hours, leading to a reduction in the backlog of cases.

Denver Parks and Recreation Partners with Winter Park Resort
 - 1000 tickets available for Denver nonprofits and schools to bring winter sports to urban youth
 
Program will will help establish ski clubs for Denver nonprofits or schools. “Our goal in creating this program was to provide urban youth an opportunity to experience the joy of skiing and snowboarding in the Colorado Rockies,” said Denver Parks and Recreation Manager Kim Bailey. “This program is designed to build lifelong interest in winter snow sports among Denver’s urban youth.”

Denver City Council’s issues roundtable program “Council Matters” recorded a perfect score and took top place, an engaging training video “Democracy for All” designed for Election Judges and coverage of City Council meetings lead a stellar night for the City's Denver 8 TV in a national competition sponsored by the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA).
