FORECLOSURE RECOMMENDATIONS RELEASED
Pro-active Measures to Combat Foreclosure Problems
 
Michael Hancock, President of the Denver City Council and Task Force Co-Chairs, Councilmember Rick Garcia, and Joshua Widoff, Esq. announced today the completion of the Foreclosure Task Force recommendations report.  The report focuses on strategies related to education, prevention, intervention, and enforcement as pro-active measures to combat foreclosure problems. Marquez is joining the administration as its new Director of Excise and Licenses.  The Director of the Department of Excise and Licenses oversees a department comprised of approximately 22 full time staff members who are responsible for issuing over 100 different classes of Denver business licenses.

LAUNCH OF DEFINED SELECTION POOL FOR SMALL BUSINESSES
New Program Enables Certified Small Businesses to Bid as Prime Contractors
 
Small Business Enterprises (SBE) now have the opportunity to bid and compete as prime contractors on approximately $14 million in selected City construction and professional services contracts during the remainder of 2007. Through the new program, a portion of the City’s construction and professional services contracts are designated for exclusive bidding by SBEs. The defined selection pool applies to selected construction contracts valued under $750,000 and professional services contracts under $500,000.
