First female for the position in the history of Denver’s Public Works

Denver's Public Works announced today their selection for the new Director of Street Maintenance,
Kelly Duffy. As the
Director of Street Maintenance, Duffy will be responsible for close to 200 employees, budgets totaling over $30 million and the numerous and diverse projects and services in the City and County of Denver assigned to Street Maintenance. These projects and services include maintaining safe and usable streets and alleys, pavement profiling and resurfacing, asphalt patching, crack sealing, street sweeping, and snow and ice control.
Duffy comes into the position of Director of Street Maintenance from an
impressive history with the agency, proving that perseverance and hard work are rewarded. Duffy began her career with Street Maintenance in March of 1999 as a Senior Agency Budget Analyst, preparing productivity reports and analysis of budget, work programs and work performance measures. Just eight months later, she was promoted to Administrative Manager for the agency, and then to Field Superintendent in 2003. Duffy advanced to the position of Assistant Director of Street Maintenance in 2005.
Most recently, she took on the challenging role of Acting Director of Street Maintenance in the midst of Denver's record-breaking blizzards from December, 2006 through February of 2007, replacing previous Director, Dan Roberts, after his promotion to Operations Director for Denver's Public Works.
Duffy began her career with the City and County of Denver in 1996 as a Maintenance Control Supervisor at DIA. Prior to that, Duffy held positions in the private sector with Standard & Poor’s, Kraft Foods Inc. and Quaker Oats.
Duffy graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and English from Cornell College in Iowa, and completed Denver's intensive Leadership Enhancement and Development (LEAD) program, designed exclusively for executive leaders, managers and appointees of the City and County of Denver. The LEAD program enhances leadership skills and competencies and provides opportunities for City and County employees to develop the skills they need to become effective leaders.
A Colorado native, Duffy resides in Westminster with her husband, Ryan and Molly, their 16 year-old mixed breed dog.
