Office of Economic Development interviews Denver Business Leaders available at
www.milehigh.com

September 29, 2006 - The Denver Office of Economic Development (OED) has launched a new
series of podcasts on its Web site,
www.milehigh.com. The podcasts feature
Mayor John Hickenlooper and a group of
business leaders who share their perspectives on Denver as an ideal location for conducting business.
“When we look down the road at the things that might really enhance our economic vitality, the breadth and depth of new technologies is going to have a lot to do with how Denver defines itself,” said Mayor John Hickenlooper in his podcast. “Things like podcasting and other applications of new technology really create a City where those young workers of the next generation of businesses really want to be.”
Joining Mayor Hickenlooper for the initial series of podcast interviews are Walter Rakowich, president and COO of ProLogis; Monica Pleiman, chairman and CEO of Optimum Management Systems; and Steve Ballas, owner of Steve’s Snappin’ Dogs. One additional podcast interview will be added to the site monthly.
Users can listen to the podcasts directly on their computer or subscribe to them through an RSS feed. The podcasts also will be available for free subscription through Apple’s iTunes.
“A principal focus of the City’s economic development website is to showcase the wonderful reasons for locating and growing businesses within Denver,” says John Huggins, director of the Denver Office of Economic Development. “We’re excited to launch a series of podcasts that promotes Denver’s rich business climate to a broad audience.”
In addition to podcasts, the OED Web site offers a wide variety of economic and demographic information, including workforce recruitment information for businesses, steps to creating a business within Denver, small business loan and financing information, government contract opportunities, OED news and events, and links to Denver Maps and neighborhood plans. The site’s content spans OED’s Divisions of Business Development, Small Business Opportunity, Housing and Neighborhood Development, and Workforce Development.
The Denver Office of Economic Development works to create a local environment that stimulates balanced economic growth through job creation, business assistance, housing options and neighborhood redevelopment.
