The
Denver Office of Community Support is housed within the Agency for Human Rights and Community Relations. The Office of Community Support serves as a liaison between Community groups and Organizations who seek support services from various City Agencies and Departments on projects which promote the mission and goals of the Agency for Human Rights and Community Relations.
Denver Defines Integration is a project initiated by the Denver Integration Coalition and funded initially by The Colorado Trust through their Supporting Immigrant and Refugee Families Initiative. The goal of the community conversations is to gather and synthesize as much input and information as we can from various individuals, communities, neighborhoods and organizations to create a comprehensive plan for integration in Denver.
The Denver Integration Coalition will engage individuals and organizations from arriving and receiving communities throughout Denver, in a planning process that will last several months in order to define “integration” and develop this plan for Denver that promotes a vision of belonging and opportunity for everyone. Our work emphasizes that everyone has a voice in our community and by working together our community will be strengthened.
Integration matters in Colorado for several reasons: Colorado has become a gateway for immigrants and refugees. These newcomers, who come from countries around the world, represent the widest possible range of ethnic groups, religious beliefs, education levels and employment histories. They bring change to communities and, at times, pose challenges for municipal leaders. Integration matters so that we can all live in a healthy community that creates a sense of belonging for everyone, and that creates opportunities for all to improve their lives.
Supporting Immigrant and Refugee Families Initiative (SIRFI)
is a project funded by The Colorado Trust, a private grantmaking foundation dedicated to advancing the health and well being of the people of Colorado. The SIRFI project provides funding to 19 Colorado communities in their efforts to support immigrants and “established” residents in working together for strong, healthy communities.
