Hundreds of veterans from the U.S. Armed Forces, scout troops, color guards and other honorable veteran groups will march in the annual
Denver Memorial Day Parade to commemorate America’s soldiers on Saturday,
May 26 at 10 a.m.
U.S. Congressman Mark Udall,
Governor Bill Ritter, Secretary of State Mike Coffman, Brig. Gen. H. Mike Edwards, Col. Zeigler, Denver Human Services Manager Roxane White and Veteran Service Officer (VSO) George Cassidy are among the few who will pay tribute to Denver’s veterans. A mayoral proclamation will be read on behalf of
Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper during the parade. This will occur at the reviewing stand located between Colfax Ave. and 14th Ave. on Broadway.
Many military, community and youth organizations plan to participate and will begin marshalling at 9 a.m. The parade will feature a USS Indianapolis survivor, Disabled American Veterans chapters, American Legion posts, vintage vehicles, marching bands, scout troops and groups
dedicated to helping veterans.
Andrew Grieb, a leader with the Disabled American Veterans organization, is this year’s parade chairman. The Denver County VSO is helping assemble the parade. The VSO is a division of Denver Department of Human Services that assists veterans in obtaining benefits available through the federal Veterans Administration and links them to other resources that help the veteran community.

Parade will assemble near Civic Center Park at Bannock St. and Cherokee St. between Colfax and 14th Ave. The parade will proceed via 14th St. to Court Pl. then to 15th St. and Welton St., east to 17th St., then south on Broadway to 14th Ave. The reviewing stand will be located between Colfax and 14th Ave. on Broadway.
Why: The Parade is sponsored by the Denver United Veteran’s Council and Denver County VSO to honor veterans and active military personnel.
