Program Matches Youth Worker with Business

Denver employers that are looking to fill positions this summer might be eligible for
free, subsidized labor through the Youth Employment Program offered by the
Denver Office of Economic Development. The program matches youth 14 to 21 years of age with entry-level jobs throughout Denver.
“This is a great opportunity for Denver businesses to
provide youth the opportunity to work and gain valuable experience this summer,” said Cec Ortiz, acting director of the Denver Office of Economic Development. “Not only can businesses tap into a free labor source, but they can play an important role in building the skills of our local youth.”
The program c
onnects Denver employers with youth workers for an eight-week period from June through August. All youth participants receive job-readiness training prior to placement, as well as job coaching throughout employment.
Approximately 450 youth workers will be placed with jobs paying $7.42 per hour through the program this summer. Wages are paid by the City through the Youth Employment Program.
