As a kickoff to Affordable Housing Week, the Denver Office of Economic Development (OED) is sponsoring the Denver Housing Fair, June 2, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building atrium, 201 W. Colfax Ave.
The fair will feature a variety of affordable housing and rental options available throughout the City and County of Denver. OED works with many affordable housing developers, who will share information on single-family homes, town homes and lofts priced from $120,000 to $200,000 as well as rental units priced from $400 to $1,624 per month.
“This is a wonderful and unique opportunity to discover the vast array of affordable housing resources available in Denver,” said OED Director of Housing and Neighborhood Development Terrance Ware. “From down payment assistance grants to the City’s affordable housing program, there are a number of options available to both prospective buyers and renters.”
Representatives from the City, home ownership counseling agencies and lending institutions will highlight the home-buying process. A series of seminars will address topics including realtor selection, homeownership counseling, mortgage selection and foreclosure prevention.
The week of June 1–7 has been designated as Affordable Housing Week. Designed to highlight local programs that support affordable housing in metro Denver, the week is sponsored by Enterprise Community Partners in conjunction with Colorado Housing and Finance Authority, the Colorado Division of Housing, the City and County of Denver, Denver Board of Realtors, Downtown Denver Partnership, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver, Housing Justice!, Housing Old Guys, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the City of Lakewood and Mercy Housing.
