Denver Justice Center Gains Green Award
Post Office/Parking Garage Achieves Silver LEED Rating
 
The new Denver Justice Center complex has received a final SILVER LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, rating from the US Green Building Council (USGBC).
 
“This building is a perfect example of sustainable construction practices that can help us significantly reduce that impact,” said Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health.

Construction Job Fair
Construction Industry Job Fair
With dozens of construction cranes dotting the metro Denver landscape, there are numerous construction openings for Denver area job seekers. To assist in filling these positions, the Denver Office of Economic Development (OED), Division of Workforce Development and the Construction Career Days Committee are sponsoring the Construction Industry Job Fair, Wednesday, April 23, 2008, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the National Western Complex in Denver.

More than 50 construction companies and training programs will be on hand to recruit energetic persons at all levels, from no experience to highly skilled individuals, for exciting jobs and careers in the construction industry.

"Recent workforce studies show that construction is definitely one of the hot industries for employment in metro Denver," said Paula Gomez Farrell, Ph.D., director of the OED Division of Workforce Development. "The construction industry presents a wide variety of positions for job seekers, as well as career ladders for individuals to advance into higher positions and build a rewarding career."

Employers will conduct interviews at the fair for the following permanent and summer employment positions:

  • Estimators
  • Carpenters
  • Surveyors
  • Equipment operators
  • Welders
  • Electricians
  • Plumbers
  • HVAC
  • Landscape contractors
  • Irrigation technicians
  • Field engineers
  • Project managers
  • Project administrators
  • Superintendents
  • Drafting
  • Laborers
  • Drywall finishers
  • Concrete
  • Testing technicians
  • Construction labors
  • Painters
  • Trades program apprenticeships

The fair will be held in the Expo Hall, level 2, of the National Western Complex, 4655 Humboldt St. in Denver. A limited availability of free parking will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.
