
The Denver Environmental Health Department invites the public to participate in events during the week of April 7-13 in celebration of National Public Health Week. The week-long celebration, started by the American Public Health Association in 1996, educates the public, policy-makers, and public health professionals about issues important to improving the public’s health.
This year’s theme, “Climate Change: Our Health in the Balance” focuses on the connection between the way we lead our lives, our impact on the planet, and the planet’s impact on our health. The diversity of public health topics is witnessed in the range of environmental health programs being offered during Public Health Week, including:

Lt. Governor Barbara O’Brien will kickoff the 2008 National Public Health Week with opening remarks at one of the state’s premier walkable communities. Officials from the Colorado Department of Public Health, Denver Environmental Health, and other local public health partners will be in attendance to celebrate this year’s theme: “Climate Change: Our Health in the Balance.”
