Denver Justice Center Gains Green Award
Post Office/Parking Garage Achieves Silver LEED Rating
 
The new Denver Justice Center complex has received a final SILVER LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, rating from the US Green Building Council (USGBC).
 
“This building is a perfect example of sustainable construction practices that can help us significantly reduce that impact,” said Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health.

Martin Luther King Day Events
City Celebrates With Marade and Rodeo
 
First observed in 1986, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day will be observed this year on Monday, January 21. The city of Denver will be celebrating this memorable day with a variety of events, including the Marade and African-American Rodeo of Champions.  
 
 
The Marade -
Join fellow marchers and parade fans in this year's Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 'Marade' on Monday, January 15. Participants will congregate at the Dr. King memorial site in City Park at 8:30am . The Marade will begin at 10:00am and participants will march together to the Civic Center, where cake will be served. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. yearbook will be signed again this year at the State Capital, and program festivities are expected to end at 1:00pm.
 
The Rodeo -
The Martin Luther King Jr. African-American Rodeo of Champions aims to show how black cowboys and cowgirls affected the West throughout history. The Rodeo will take place on January 21, 2008 at 6pm at the Denver Coliseum. Reserved seating for this event costs between $12-$35.
