The Commons Park area will go to the dogs July 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the Dog Days of Summer, an event to help promote responsible pet ownership in Denver. “Responsible pet ownership is necessary for the safety and well being of not only citizens but for their pets as well,” said Councilwoman Judy H. Montero
This event is to educate the general public on services the City and County of Denver offers to its residents. We will also be showcasing the design of Denver’s new Animal Shelter, and the upcoming Dogs Off Leash Park at 19th Street and Basset Street.
Denver Animal Care & Control staff will be on hand to offer low cost pet vaccinations, microchips, and pet licenses, in addition to hosting an adoption event to find homes for some great adoptable pets. The cost will be $10 for a one year pet license, $30 for a three year license, and $30 for a microchip. Cash or check will be accepted, proof of vaccination is required to purchase pet license.
Various local vendors will be on site, along with Denver Parks & Recreation staff, which will provide an update on the dog park master planning efforts. Denver Public Works staff will provide information on clean water programs and tips for keeping our waters lakes and streams free of pet waste.
The event is sponsored by Councilwoman Judy H. Montero, Denver Parks & Recreation, Environmental Health, Public Works, the Greenway Foundation and Earthforce.
