2009 Mayor’s Design Awards Announced
Mayor John Hickenlooper celebrated the growing number of Denver’s homeowners, small business owners and developers who have made design excellence a priority in their community at the fifth annual Mayor's Design Awards. The program honored 15 diverse projects that enhance the city.

 Spring Into Health
Spring Into Health
15th Annual “Spring into Health” event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. For the first time, “Spring into Health” is being held at Denver Zoo, an 80-acre wonderland in Denver's historic City Park.

WHO:       Denver Parks and Recreation and Denver Zoo, along with our sponsors, will host the   
                 15th Annual Spring into Health

WHAT:      In addition to our keynote speaker Kevin Fitzgerald, DMV, PhD and renowned exotic
                  animal veterinarian and comedian, and welcoming remarks by Mayor John
                  Hickenlooper, Spring into Health will feature a resource fair designed to provide
                  information and awareness of programs, agencies and assistance to adults and seniors. 
                  
                   The fair will feature nonprofit organizations such as Denver Health, the Denver
                   Commission on Aging, DRCOG, Denver Human Services, Volunteers of America, and
                   Active Minds for Life. Denver Health will provide free blood pressure screenings as well
                   as care management information.

 WHEN:     Thursday, May 28, 2009
                   9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
                   Mayor Hickenlooper to speak at 9:45 a.m.
                   Kevin Fitzgerald to speak at 10:20 a.m.

WHERE:     Denver Zoo
                    2300 Steele Street
                   Conoco Zoo Gardens

 WHY:       Spring into Health is a showcase of fitness and wellness programs, highlighting fitness
                  options such as Tai’Chi, as well as the one-mile loop around Denver Zoo. Tickets may be
                  purchased in advance for $5 at any Denver Recreation Center and include the walk,
                  access to resource fair and Denver Zoo admission. Tickets may be purchased at the gate
                  the day-of the event for the full zoo admission price of $12. 

 Spring into Health is sponsored by KEZW, City of Denver Office on Aging and Commission on Aging, AARP Medicare Complete provided through Secure Horizons, Colorado Lottery, RTD, Silver Sneakers and Denver Health Medical Plan, Inc.
