light rail trainNovember 17, 2006 - Denver’s Department of Public Works is working closely with RTD, commuters and local neighborhoods to balance the needs of on-street parking in communities near newly opened Southeast Light Rail Stations. New parking management programs created to address neighborhood parking and safety concerns have been initiated in the neighborhoods adjacent to the Louisiana-Pearl Station and the Dayton Station starting Friday, November 17.

Mayor Demands Quick Solutions to Election Problems
election dayNOVEMBER 08, 2006 -- While Election Day problems related to the introduction of new federally-mandated voting technology were prevalent throughout Colorado and the nation, Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper is taking quick action to help ensure those problems never occur in Denver County again.  On Wednesday, Hickenlooper announced plans to convene a short-term, action-oriented investigative panel - which he and City Council President Michael Hancock will co-chair - of top public, private and nonprofit sector management, technology and voting experts to quickly analyze the problems that occurred and develop actionable solutions.

DHS Sparks Winter Energy Assistance Program
warmthDENVER – Denver Human Services will be facilitating emergency energy assistance to low-income Denver residents and processing applications from others in need beginning Wednesday, Nov. 1. The agency will help city residents as part of the 2006-2007 Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP). The program helps qualifying low-income residents pay their heating bills each winter.
