Media coverage of high profile criminal cases raises the question of just what is the public’s right to know.  And what role does the media play? Former Fox News reporter Carol McKinley joins Mitch Morrissey on this edition of Dialogue: Denver DA.

  • Colorado courts can allow a television camera to record court proceedings under certain circumstances if the judge in the case approves
  • Prosecutors and their staff are bound by strict Rules of Professional Conduct that limit what they can say about cases prior to trial
  • The request by media to have a camera in the courtroom is called a Motion for Expanded Media Coverage
  • Most of the records created by the Denver District Attorney’s Office fall under the Criminal Justice Records Act rather than the Open Records Act

False.  Colorado law prohibits sweepstakes promoters from claiming sweepstakes entries accompanied by an order for products will be treated differently than entries without an order.  The law requires a "No Purchase Necessary" message.
