SHELTER NOTICE

August 28, 2014 – Denver Animal Shelter (DAS) is temporarily limiting its services between August 29 and September 1 to help reduce the spread of an upper respiratory illness that has impacted a number of dogs at the shelter. 

The following services are unavailable from August 29 to September 1:

  • Stray dog intake from the public
  • All adoptions
  • Saturday vaccination clinic (August 30 only)
  • Owner-requested euthanasia
  • Microchip services

Regis is a 3-year-old Chihuahua that has been at DAS since the middle of June. Regis is a very playful, nice dog. He also gets along well with other small dogs.

Child rating: 12+ due to play behaviors.

Erin is a 1-year-old domestic shorthair and is litter box trained. Though she can be a little shy, she is very calm and is good with other cats. Erin has been at DAS since early March.

DAS adoptable dog, Cassie

Cassie is a 2-year-old American Bulldog that weighs about 62 lbs. She likes to play ball and is very sweet and outgoing. She also knows sit and shake! Cassie has been at DAS since June 27th.

 Adoptable cat, Annie


Annie is a 12-year-old domestic tabby. She was brought to DAS in June after her owner passed away. Annie is very friendly and loves to be petted, but not picked up and held. She is also sassy when it comes to other animals, so would do best as an only cat.

Gerbils (A221574 and A221575) 
 Two adoptable Gerbils from DAS
DAS currently has two gerbils available for adoption. The black gerbil (A221574) is a male and the white gerbil (A221575) is female. The gerbils are very interested in people and enjoy running on their exercise wheel. They do like to chew on plastic, so they need to have metal or porcelain dishes. 

The gerbils are available for $15 each.
