NOTICE TO PERSONS INTENDING TO MARRY IN THE CITY AND COUNTY BUILDING

The Denver County Court provides a list of judicial officers who are available to perform civil wedding ceremonies for couples who wish to be married in this fashion. For information about obtaining a marriage license or other marriage information, please contact the Clerk & Recorder's Office at 720-865-8400, or visit their office on the first floor of the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building, 201 W. Colfax Avenue, Denver, CO 80202.

Section 14-2-109(1) C.R.S (1993), allows a couple to solemnize (perform) their own marriage. To solemnize their own marriage, a couple need only indicate such on the marriage certificate form on the third line, indicating "themselves". The couple should both sign below where the clergy or judicial officer usually signs and then, sign again as "bride" and "groom". You may solemnize your marriage while in the building and return the certificate to the clerk immediately. When you solemnize your own wedding, you must return the marriage certificate no later than sixty days from the date the license was issued. Besides the couple themselves, others who can solemnize their marriage are judges, retired judges, magistrates, public officials, Indian tribe officials and clergy. The statute does NOT allow a friend or relative to solemnize a marriage. Witnesses are not required for a valid ceremony.

Pursuant to Directive 98-06 of the Chief of Justice of the Colorado Supreme Court, the judges, commissioners, referees and magistrates of the Denver District and County Courts are permitted to charge for weddings performed between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., on regular court business days. Judicial officers who wish to perform weddings during the weekday are on a list distributed at the counter through the Clerk and Recorders office in the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building, 201 W. Colfax Avenue, First Floor, Denver, CO 80202. Judicial officers who perform weddings on the weekends and holidays also are on a separate list available at the counter in the clerk's office. There are also judicial officers who are able to perform a wedding in the Spanish language. Persons who wish to solemnize their marriage before a judicial officer may contact any judicial officer on the lists below and make appropriate arrangements. You may also contact County Court Judges from the table below to make an appointment.

NOTIFICACIÓN A LAS PERSONAS QUE DESEAN CASARSE EN EL EDIFICIO DE LA CUIDAD Y DEL CONDADO DE DENVER

Los tribunales del Condado de Denver disponen de una lista de oficiales judiciales quienes están disponibles para realizar ceremonias de matrimonio civil a parejas que desean contraer dichas nupcias. Para obtener información acerca de cómo obtener un acta de matrimonio u otra información matrimonial, favor contactar a la oficina de la secretaría y registro (Clerk & Recorder's Office) al 720-865-8400 o visitar esta entidad en el primer piso del edificio municipal Wellington E. Webb, en la 201 W. Colfax Avenue, Denver, CO 80202.

La sección 14-2-109 de los Estatutos Enmendados de Colorado [(1)C.R.S. (1993)] permite a una pareja formalizar su propio matrimonio. Para dicho efecto, la pareja deberá indicarlo sobre la tercera línea del formulario de acta de matrimonio, indicando "themselves", o "ellos mismos". La pareja deberá firmar al pie donde suele firmar el clérigo u oficial judicial, y también firmar como "bride" (novia) y "groom" (novio). El matrimonio podrá formalizarse estando en el edificio y entregando de inmediato el acta al oficial del Registro. Al formalizar su propio matrimonio, el acta deberá ser entregada dentro de sesenta días a partir de la fecha en que fue emitida la licencia. Además de la propia pareja, también pueden formalizar el matrimonio jueces, jueces jubilados, magistrados, oficiales públicos, oficiales de tribus indígenas y clérigos. El estatuto NO permite que un amigo o pariente formalice un matrimonio. Para que la ceremonia sea válida no se requieren testigos.

Según la Directiva 98-06 del Juez Presidente del Tribunal Supremo de Colorado, se les permite a los jueces, comisionados, árbitros, y magistrados de los Tribunales del Distrito y del Condado cobrar por bodas realizadas en el tribunal durante días laborables entre las 12:00 p.m hasta las 1:30 p.m . Los oficiales judiciales que deseen celebrar bodas durante días de semana se encuentran en una lista que está disponible en el mostrador de la oficina de registro ("Clerk and Recorders") situada en la Sala 200 del Edificio de la Ciudad y Condado. También existe una lista de los oficiales judiciales que están disponibles para celebrar bodas durante fines de semana y días festivos, y de aquellos oficiales que pueden celebrar bodas en español. Las personas que deseen formalizar su matrimonio con un oficial judicial deberán contactar y hacer los arreglos necesarios con cualquiera de los nombrados en la lista.
