How do I pay my traffic ticket online?
- To pay your traffic ticket online, visit us on the internet at denvergov.org/court. You may search your case by entering your case number or your first and last name. Next, click on "search" at the bottom or your screen. IF your ticket is eligible to be paid online, a “Pay Online Now” box will appear above your case number. Click on the “Pay Online Now” box to begin the online payment process.

- What type of tickets may be paid online?
- You may pay a traffic ticket if there is a fine listed on the face of the ticket and the court date has not yet passed.
- Can I make a payment on any Denver County Court case?
- No. At this time, only eligible traffic tickets may be paid online.
- A fine amount is listed on my ticket and my court date is scheduled on a future date; however, my payment is being rejected online. Why?
- On rare occasions, an officer writes a fine amount on a ticket that should have required a mandatory court appearance. While the Court will honor the payable amount, the matter must be handled in person at one of our payment locations.
- Why is my traffic ticket not eligible to be paid online?
POSSIBLE REASONS why a ticket is not eligible for internet payment are as follows:
- You may have been charged with a violation that requires you to appear in court.
- The officer may have written a fine amount on a ticket that should have required a mandatory court appearance. While the Court will honor the payable amount, the matter must be handled in person at one of our payment locations.
- You may have been involved in an accident and were charged with a violation that requires your appearance in court.
- Your ticket may already be closed because 1) Upon review of your ticket, the charge(s) have been dismissed, or 2) We have received payment in full. Contact the Traffic Division at 720-865-7840 for details.
- A fine amount is not indicated on the ticket and your appearance in court is mandatory.
- You may have missed court and your ticket may be in a Warrant, Default or OJW status.
1) If your ticket is in Warrant status, you will need to post a bond or appear at an add-on court session. Contact the Traffic Division at 720-865-7840 for details.
2) If your ticket is in a Default status, you may pay at any of the payment locations OR you may file a motion to set aside the default. Contact the Traffic Division at 720-865-7840 for details.
3) If your ticket is in an OJW status, you will need to contact the Traffic Division at 720-865-7840 to determine if it is a payable ticket or if your appearance in court is required.
- You may have already appeared in court and a fine was assessed. Payments need to be made in person or via mail.
- You may have already made arrangements to pay your fine on a future date or you may currently be on a payment plan. Pre-arranged payments need to be made in person at any of our payment locations or via mail.
- You may have appeared in court but failed to pay the fine assessed in court, which resulted in the case being in a Failure to Pay Warrant status. Payments need to be made in person or via mail.

- Why is my appearance in court mandatory?
- You may have been charged with a violation that requires your appearance in court. Your ticket is not payable without your appearance in court.
- I was involved in an accident. Is my appearance in court mandatory?
- If your ticket includes a fine amount written in by the officer, your appearance in court may not be mandatory. You may be able to pay your fine.
- If your citation does not include a fine amount written in by the officer, your appearance in court may be mandatory. Contact the Traffic Division for more information at 720-865-7840.
- Will I be charged a fee to make a payment online?
- Yes. You will be assessed an Internet Administrative Fee which is an additional 2.5% of your transaction.
- Why is the total amount due different online from the amount written on my ticket?
- The officer may have erroneously entered a larger fine amount due.
- A clerical error may have been made while entering the ticket into the court's computer system.
- Your payment will be higher if it is being received after the 20 day discount period, but still prior to the court date.
- An Internet Administrative Fee has been added. This online service includes an Internet Administrative Fee that allows the City and County of Denver to deliver this service at little or no cost to the taxpayers of the City and County of Denver. The Internet Administrative Fee associated with this service is 2.5% of the amount of your transaction.

- I appeared in court and a fine was assessed. May I pay that fine online?
No. You must mail in your payment or visit any of our payment locations.
- Can I make an online partial payment of the fine that is due on the face of my ticket?
No. All fines, costs and the Internet Administrative Fee must be paid in full before your court date.
- I am on a payment plan. Can I pay my fine online?
No. You must mail in your payment or visit any of our payment locations.
- How do I check the status of a payment I made online?
- You may review your ticket status online at denvergov.org/court. Your ticket will be closed within a few minutes from receipt of payment.
- You may print a receipt by following the prompts within the program.
- If you included an email address when making your internet payment, you will receive an email confirmation that your ticket was paid.
- Do I still need to appear in court on my assigned date if my payment is successfully made online?
No. Your court date will be cancelled (vacated) and your ticket will be closed. You do not need to appear in court.
- How do I obtain proof that my ticket was paid in full and/or proof that my court date was cancelled (vacated)?
- You may print a receipt by following the prompts within the program.
- You may print your ticket status by visiting denvergov.org/court.
- If you include an email address when making your internet payment, you will receive a confirmation email that your ticket was paid.
- What happens if I do not pay my fine or appear in court?
What happens depends on the type of violation with which you were charged. Possible outcomes include:

Your case will go into default status which means you will automatically be found guilty and assessed points, fines and court costs. On some cases, various surcharges may also be imposed as required by law. A lien will be issued against your license and a fee of $30 will be assessed.

Your driving privileges may be revoked.

A warrant for your arrest may be issued.

Your case may be referred to a collection agency and an additional fee will be added.
- What are “Points Assessed”?
· The points assessed are the points that are reported to the Denver Motor Vehicle when you accept the plea bargain the City is offering which is noted on the face of your ticket. Description of the lower point charges are located on the back of your ticket and are as follows:
o 1 point R.M.C. 54-70(b) Defective Headlamps
o 2 points R.M.C. 54-68 Operating an Unsafe or Defective Vehicle
o 3 points R.M.C. 54-155 Driving Too Fast for Conditions
o 4 points R.M.C. 54-258 Disobedience to Stop Sign
For example: Your ticket may indicate Total Points = 4 if paid after 20 days but before your arraignment date and Total Points = 2 if paid within 20 days. Although the ticket may indicate a higher point amount if paid after 20 days, please be aware that you are still eligible to accept the lower point charge on the face of the ticket, up to the time of your court appearance.
- Why is the time indicated on my receipt different from the actual time I made my online payment?
