What is the difference between a small claims action and a county court action?
Both of these actions are determined by the amount of money demanded. Small claims are any actions where the amount demanded is $7,500 or under. Small claims court is designed for parties without attorney representation. However, if there are attorneys involved in the case, the rules and procedures of the small claims court will still apply. A county court civil action is up to $15,000. Denver County Court does not have jurisdiction over a civil action when the amount demanded is over $15,000.
