County Court - Frequently Asked Questions
County Court
Frequently Asked Questions
Miscellaneous

I want to come watch the court in action. I have no relation to the case -- I just curious, and want to see what goes on. May I come to court to observe?
Absolutely. All court sessions, unless specifically noted by the judge, are open to the public. Some courtrooms are larger than others, though, and if the courtroom is quite crowded, a judge may choose to have only those persons on the docket (actually appearing in court) seated in the courtroom. Most courtrooms do not allow children to be present. Also, at times there may be special circumstances in which a judge may not allow observers. Usually when this happens, a sign is posted on the door. As a courtesy, you may want to ask the courtroom clerk if there would be any objections to you observing. Keep in mind that the judge has the final say in who is allowed in the courtroom at all times, and abide by the judge's orders.
