GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Chairperson

Duties as prescribed in current Bylaws, plus designated role as Representative to the Advisory Board.  Specific focus on overall leadership of the Commission, Commissioner relationships, and visibility/representation at events.  Chairs the Executive Committee and may chair or co-chair a standing committee.

Vice Chairperson

Duties as prescribed in current Bylaws, plus designated as Alternate Advisory Board Representative.  Specific focus on recruiting and orientation of new Commissioners. May chair a standing committee

Mayra Rosa-Vice Chair

Secretary

Duties as prescribed in current Bylaws (including taking minutes, routine communication with Commissioners) plus managing official correspondence (such as congratulatory or thank you letters).  May chair a standing committee.

Dafna Michaelson-Secretary

Event/Community Services Committee

Plan and implement official Commission events (e.g., Lawmaker Awards, Commissioner Reunion), facilitate Commission role in partnered events (e.g. Legislative Breakfast), implement programs as necessary to make Denver the Best City for Women.  Identify opportunities for the DW Commissioners to reach out to the community and provide a service that will support the DWC goals and Vision for women and their families.

Advocacy Committee

Work with Chaer to integrate Commission in legislative advocacy work at city and state level.  Send out action alerts as appropriate to Commissioners, oversee development of Commissioner relationship-building with public officials.

Marketing and Public Relations Committee

Identify and develop opportunities to increase the visibility of the Commission, including speaking engagements, event publicity and sponsorships, distribution of posters and bookmarks.  Periodically update talking points and marketing materials as appropriate.

Executive Committee (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Chairs of the sub-committees)

Convened as needed by the Chair to advise the Chair, to address new or time-critical issues, or for any other purpose determined by the Chair.
