 Recovery Act Employment Grants Minimize
Local Nonprofits Recieve $225,000 to Support Jobs in the Arts

DOCA is pleased to announce grants to 15 local arts organizations made possible by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The stimulus funding recognizes that the arts sector is an important part of the economy and that
jobs in the arts are threatened by declines in philanthropic and other support during the current economic downturn.

$225,000 in Recovery Act funds will impact 43 local jobs, providing more than 14,000 hours of employment at 15 Denver cultural organizations. These organizations, selected in a competitive process, will recieve one-time grants ranging from $7,500 to $25,000. The funds will be used to restore and retain staff and contract employees critical to their work. Click here for a full list of the organizations, grants and job positions impacted and a report on the first month of support.

You can also view the press release regarding NEA Recovery Act Employment Funding throughout Colorado, including grants made by DOCA, Colorado Council on the Art and the Western States Arts Federation.

In addition to the $225,000 from the NEA and Recovery Act funds which DOCA recieved to provide grants , DOCA received $25,000 for administration of the Arts Employment Grants and to launch DENVER 2 for 1 TIX, a weekly discount ticket offer email program in partnership with VISIT DENVER.
