America's Promise Alliance Selects Denver to Host a 2009 Drop Out Prevention Summit.

America’s Promise continues tohighlight the nation's drop out crises through research, best practices and funding of states and municipalities to host drop out summits.  Denver once again is selected to host a drop out summit.  We are in the process of coordinating an advisory committee to move forward on a fall summit focusing on the 8th-9th grade transition using community parthership as a lens.

In 2007, America’s Promise Alliance had a Request for Proposals for cities on “Improving High School Graduation Rates Summit”. Denver was one of 10 cities selected to host a drop out summit in conjunction with the Governor’s Office which was also awarded funding for a statewide drop out. Click on www.americaspromise.org  for more information on America’s Promise Alliance.

The Mayor’s Office for Education and Children hosted two summits in 2008: Multiple Pathways to Graduation: Principals Summit and Multiple Pathways to Graduation: Engaging the Community. Click on the respective briefing paper for the full report.
